The entire stocktaking of retail and services in all districts of Gdynia has been carried out since 2005, together with a survey of Gdynia's inhabitants entitled 'Happy Gdynia'.

In June this year, a group of about 35 students from the University of Gdańsk, under the direction of dr Renata Anisiewicz, carried out a stocktaking of retail and services in 21 districts of Gdynia, according to the guidelines provided by the Strategy Department. It was a so-called 'physical inventory' taking into account only those activities that can be seen 'from the street.'

All services were inventoried and broken down into the following categories: commerce, personal services and business environment services.
