In May 2022 The University of Gdańsk invited researchers to participate in the Competition „Research Potential Database” SEA-EU which aim is to encourage the establishment or strengthening of research and teaching cooperation between SEA-EU partner universities using the information available in the Research Potential Database.
The competition was open to academic teachers employed at the University of Gdansk as their primary workplace within the group of research and teaching or research staff. The applicant implemented the project in collaboration with a minimum of one researcher/research group from a foreign SEA-EU partner University.
As a result of the competition, 8 one-off grants of PLN 10 000 were awarded. The funding will be used to realise business trips of UG researchers and visits of associates/research group members from the SEA-EU partner University unit.
The competition jury awarded the projects:
European Public History aims to educate society about the shared history of the countries involved: Croatia, France, Germany and Poland. The project involves Prof. Beata Możejko, Assoc. Prof. Magdalena Nowak (Faculty of History UG), Prof. Yves Coativy (Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences UBO), Prof. Gonzalo Butron (Faculty of Arts UCA) and Prof. Sebastian Barsch (Faculty of Arts and Humanities CAU).
Air Transport in the tourism area. Good practices Croatia and Poland, whose project members plan to develop a methodology based on the concept of competitive benchmarking in the search for best practices in air transport in the area of tourism services on the example of Croatia-Poland. Assoc. Prof. Dariusz Tłoczynski, from the Faculty of Economics of UG and Blanka Simundić, PhD (Faculty of Economics, Business and Tourism, UNIST) are participating in the project.
Sustainable Governance of Migration, in which the researchers want to analyse the situation of migrant communities in Poland and Malta. The team consists of Elżbieta Czapka, PhD (Centre for Sustainable Development and Faculty of Social Sciences, UG) and Rose Marie Azzopardi, PhD (Faculty of Economics, Management & Accountancy, UM).
Strategic flexibility, digitisation and performance of small and medium enterprises in Poland and Croatia. The project aims to investigate the impact of process digitalisation and adaptability of small and medium enterprises in Poland and Croatia. People involved in the project are Joanna Kuczewska, PhD (Faculty of Economics, UG) and Prof Nikša Alfirević (Faculty of Economics, Business and Tourism, UNIST).

A project that focuses on insights into the invasion mechanisms of two key decapod species into marine ecosystems. The team consists of Prof. Monika Normant-Saremb (Faculty of Oceanography and Geography, UG) and Christine Ewers-Saucedo, PhD (Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, CAU).
The establishment of research and teaching cooperation aims to collectively analyse mechanisms underlying kidney disorders and teach within the "Medical Biology" degree course. Entanglement of multi-qubits X-states, which aims to investigate the usefulness of quantum entanglement of qubits in quantum communication and to establish the order between entanglement indices. The researchers working on this issue are Assoc. Prof. Marcin Wieśniak (Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Computer Science, UG) and Tony John George Apollaro, PhD (Faculty of Science, UM).
The interdisciplinary approach to data-driven reasoning and argumentation. Patryk Ciurak, MA (Faculty of Law and Administration, UG) and Tea Mijać, PhD (Faculty of Economics, Business and Tourism, UNIST) are working on the development of a computer code with which artificial intelligence will be able to interpret legal records. The researchers want to create a tool that will help not only lawyers but also ordinary citizens.
The establishment of the European University of the Seas - SEA-EU has brought many fundamental changes to inter-university cooperation, especially in the areas of research, education, management and sharing of resources within the consortium. One of the most important outcomes of the collaboration was the creation of, among others, the Research Potential Database and Shared Infrastructure Database. The task was coordinated by the team of the University of Gdansk. The initiative allowed for the development of a list of research groups and areas as well as the infrastructure of the 6 partner universities. The creation of the database provided a basis for strengthening research and teaching cooperation in the alliance.
