PLN 9,000 will go to the initiators of the exhibition 'Pioneers. Researchers. Leaders. Women of Gdańsk Science'. The project was awarded the Fahrenheit University Prize, which is awarded for innovative activities carried out at three member universities. A project on non-contact monitoring of patients' vital signs and a lecture series on 'Health and quality of life in public spaces' made it into the competition's final.
The winning initiative is an exhibition featuring profiles of key female researchers associated with Fahrenheit Universities and a series of talks on the role of women in science.

The first such debate occurred on August 5, 2022, during the exhibition's opening in front of St Catherine's Church in Gdańsk. Women as candidates for the post of rector and the difficulties of young female researchers were discussed by the Director of the Daniel Fahrenheit Association of Universities, prof. dr hab. inż Adriana Zaleska-Medynska, prof. dr hab. Maria Mendel from the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Gdańsk and dr Aleksandra Brodecka-Goluch from the Faculty of Oceanography and Geography at the University of Gdańsk.
Another debate, with significant audience participation, took place at the Gdańsk Science Museum on September 30, 2022. It was attended by prof. dr hab. Ewa Łojkowska from the Intercollegiate Faculty of Biotechnology at the University of Gdańsk and the Medical University of Gdańsk, prof. dr hab. Beata Możejko from the Faculty of History at the University of Gdańsk and prof. dr hab. Joanna Janczewska - Director of the Institute of Applied Mathematics at the Gdańsk University of Technology. Both debates were moderated by dr Maciej Goniszewski, Office Manager of Radio Mors UG.
A similar discussion took place in December 2022, where scientists from the Medical University of Gdańsk discussed breaking down boundaries and stereotypes. The organisation of the exhibition and debate at MUG was made possible thanks to the cooperation with dr Marek Bukowski from the MUG Museum. The following university to host the show and prepare the discussion was the Gdańsk University of Technology. In March this year, we will present the exhibition at UG. A debate will also be held here.
The originators of the exhibition and the debates are the staff of the Science Museum of Gdańsk (MG) and the Museum of the University of Gdańsk (UG). The authors of the texts and concept of the exhibition are dr Ewa Bojaruniec- Król (MG), Monika Głowińska (MG), Marta Szaszkiewicz (UG), Magdalena Jaszcza (UG), prof. dr hab. Ewa Łojkowska (UG), prof. dr hab. Beata Możejko (UG), Magdalena Nieczuja-Goniszewska (UG), dr Anna Lepacka (PG) and Barbara Ząbczyk-Chmielewska (PG). The organisation of the exhibition and debate at the MUG, on the other hand, was made possible thanks to the cooperation with the MUG Promotion Office under the direction of Jolanta Świerczyńska-Krok. Alan Stocki of the UG Press Team designed the exhibition.
The inclusivity of the project is also worth highlighting. An audio description for the visually impaired and an English exhibition translation was provided.
Two more projects made it to the final of the competition. The first concerns non-contact monitoring of patients' vital signs and was created through the collaboration of the Department of Multimedia Systems (WETI PG), the Department of Hypertension and Diabetology (Faculty of Medicine MUG) and the International Centre for Theory of Quantum Technologies UG. The second was a series of lectures on 'Health and quality of life in public spaces' organised by researchers from the three FarU universities on the three campuses. The originators of both initiatives received PLN 3,000 each.
The Fahrenheit University Prize is awarded for innovative activities carried out individually or in teams by students, doctoral students or employees in the scientific, teaching, organisational or social sphere. The award ceremony will occur during this year's Fahrenheit Science Picnic on May 28 at the Hevelianum.
