EMBO Solidarity grant for dr Daryna Sokolova from IFB UG and MUG

Dr Daryna Sokolova from the Department for the Study of Biologically Active Compounds of the Inter-University Faculty of Biotechnology UG and MUG has received an EMBO Solidarity Grant. Her project is part of the NCN Sonata Bis 10 project 'Friends or foes? The role of prophages in environmental adaptation and virulence of pectinolytic bacteria: Dickeya spp and Pectobacterium spp. in vitro and in planta', headed by dr hab. Robert Czajkowski, prof. UG from the Department of Biological Compounds Research.

EMBO Solidarity Grants is a competition for Ukrainian war refugee scientists to conduct research in one of the European countries Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Poland, Slovenia and Turkey. EMBO launched this competition in response to the Russian aggression against Ukraine and the ongoing war there.

The beneficiary receives funding for an annual salary (€36,000). This funding allows the Ukrainian scientist to be involved in research carried out by a selected research group in the scientific institutions of one of the countries mentioned above.
