Two new vice rectors and two re-appointed – this is the composition of the UG authorities. Prof. dr hab. Piotr Stepnowski, elected on Monday to Rector’s post of the University of Gdansk, appointed his deputies. That is another change within university authorities.
Professor Piotr Stepnowski assumed Rector’s office last Monday. As the winner of UG electors’ vote, he has made personnel replacements, changing university’s chancellor and treasury. Mgr Jacek Jętczak was appointed new Chancellor, long-standing employee of the University of Gdansk. Mgr Marzena Wojtaszko was appointed new Treasury, also long time working at UG. – I trust the two of them, I have worked with both Ms. Marzena Wojtaszko and Mr. Jacek Jętczak for years now and I appreciate what they have done for the university so far – said Rector Professor Piotr Stepnowski.
Today (Wednesday, 25 November 2020), Rector re-appointed two vice rectors, who have been in office already . One of them is dr hab. Arnold Kłonczyński, prof. UG who remained Vice Rector for Student Affairs and Education. Another – the competitor of Professor Stepnowski for Rector’s post - prof. dr hab. Krzysztof Bielawski. Up until this point, he served as Vice Rector for Development and Cooperation with Business and Industry, however the area of his activity was slightly modified by the newly elected Rector, who appointed him Vice Rector for Innovation and Cooperation with Social and Economic Environment.
Rector Professor Piotr Stepnowski: I have continuously stated, also during the campaign, that I value Professor Krzysztof Bielawski. I am glad that he agreed to work together with me for the benefit of our university.
The new vice rectors in the management team: dr hab. Anna Jurkowska-Zeidler, prof. UG (Faculty of Law and Administration UG) appointed Vice Rector for International Cooperation and prof. dr hab. Wiesław Laskowski (Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Informatics UG and The International Centre for Theory of Quantum Technologies) appointed Vice Rector for Research.
- Both prof. Anna Jurkowska-Zeidler and prof. Wiesław Laskowski are young people but experienced researchers, who additionally held administrative and management positions. I am strongly convinced, we will create a team that works out higher standards for our university in all areas of operation and that translates into higher scores UG receives, not only in rankings, but mostly among academic community – summarized Rector Professor Piotr Stepnowski.
Newly appointed vice rectors, chancellor and treasury all declared that being part of UG Rector’s Team is the source of great pride and a wonderful challenge.
