The Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics, Physics, and Informatics, together with the Director of the International Centre for the Theory of Quantum Technologies, would like to invite you to an open lecture by Prof. Harald Weinfurter entitled "Quantum Technology!" which will take place on 5th October 2023 (Thursday) at 10:00 in room 1.14 in the building of the Institute of Informatics.

The lecture will be held in English. After the lecture, enjoy a small refreshment.

Prof. Harald Weinfurter is a Professor of Physics at the Ludwig-Maximilians University of Munich (https://xqp.physik.uni-muenchen.de), an eminent expert in experiments on the foundations of quantum mechanics, including quantum interferometry with correlated photons, quantum entanglement, quantum communication and information processing, quantum cryptography, and metrology. In the academic year 2023/24, he will be appointed the Wacław Szybalski Chair.

Abstract: Based on the very foundations of quantum physics, novel methods to harness quantum systems will enable many applications improving current technology ranging from communication metrology to quantum computation and simulation. I will show examples of current state-of-the-art devices and where still many developments are needed, but it will be worth the effort.
