The Museum of the University of Gdańsk (MUG) has recently got its own website. We invite you to visit it regularly, to read information about exhibitions, projects, research, and finally to browse the photo gallery of the collections gathered here. We also encourage you to share your own memorabilia and stories related to the University of Gdańsk.
The University of Gdańsk Museum was established in 2018 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the University of Gdańsk - the largest university in Pomerania. As of December 30, 2020, the MUG's website was launched. You will be able to to find the latest information about the activities and collections of the unit there.
- Right next to the news which will be constantly updated with new initiatives and projects of the UG Museum, you will find information about exhibitions and the museum's collections. In the gallery you will be able to get to know the most interesting items from the UG Museum, which will be displayed at the future permanent exhibition located in the building at Bielańska Street 5 - says Marta Szaszkiewicz from the University of Gdańsk Museum.
The website also includes tabs encouraging people to share stories, individual memories and artefacts that relate to the University of Gdańsk and its two predecessors: the Maritime University of Trade/ the University of Economics in Sopot and the University of Pedagogy in Gdańsk.
- Donated gifts will complement the multi-faceted history of our university. We kindly encourage you to cooperate with us and follow the museum's website - adds Mrs Szaszkiewicz.
The collections gathered in the MUG concern mainly the University of Gdańsk and its two predecessors but also the history of science in Pomerania. These include oceanographic, sports, natural science, technical, scientific instruments, numismatic items, photographs, chronicles, government insignia as well as private collections.
