The National Science Centre has announced the results of the OPUS 27 and PRELUDIUM 23 competitions. 22 projects involving the University of Gdańsk (including 19 carried out at our university) received funding. The amount of funding for the University of Gdańsk in the OPUS 27 competition is PLN 20 165 175.00 (for the realisation of 13 research projects), and in the PRELUDIUM 23 competition, it is PLN 1 587 983.00 (for the realisation of nine research projects).

Basic research projects in the OPUS competition can be submitted by researchers at any stage of their career - the condition is that the project leader has at least one publication in their scientific output. Funding can be awarded for up to 48 months; there is no upper limit on funding - the amount awarded depends on the cost estimate of the project. Grants in the OPUS competition allow research to be carried out in cooperation with foreign partners and using international research equipment.

The PRELUDIUM competition is intended for researchers at an early stage of their career, before obtaining a doctoral degree, so that they do not have to compete for research funds with more experienced colleagues. However, a supervisor is involved in the project to support the project leader. The maximum amount of funding for this competition is PLN 210,000 and the maximum duration of the project is 36 months.

The results of NSC competitions show that at the University of Gdańsk, we run projects that are important and appreciated. I congratulate all winners’ said the UG Rector, prof. dr hab. Piotr Stepnowski.

This year's editions of NSC competitions were record-breaking in terms of the amount of funds awarded.
