Only 89 statisticians can boast the Badge of Honour for Services to Statistics of the Republic of Poland, awarded by the President of the CSO. Dr hab. Krzysztof Najman, prof. UG, from the Department of Statistics, Faculty of Management, UG, joined this group in December 2024.
The first badges of honour were awarded to Polish statisticians by the President of the Central Statistical Office back in 1931-39. This tradition continues with the Badge of Honour for Merits to Statistics of the Republic of Poland, established by the Regulation of the Council of Ministers of 17 September 2018, awarded to individuals (including foreigners), organisational units, institutions and organisations for special achievements in the field of statistics. On December 19, 2024, the President of the Central Statistical Office, dr Dominik Rozkrut, presented it to dr hab. Krzysztof Najman, prof. dr hab. UG.
‘This is an exceptional distinction,’ emphasises prof. K. Najman. So far, only 89 statisticians have received this prestigious distinction. Awarding it to prof. K. Najman, an expert in his field, is recognition of his significant contribution to the development of Polish science.
