The Minister of Science has appointed a new composition of the Disciplinary Commission operating under him for the term of 2025-2028. The experts include the Vice-Dean for Education of the Faculty of Law and Administration of the UG, dr hab. Małgorzata Balwicka-Szczyrba, prof. UG, and dr Beata J. Kowalczyk, awarded the trust for the third consecutive term.
‘I was proud to learn that I had been selected as a member of the Disciplinary Committee of the Minister of Science for the next term. This is the third time I have been entrusted with this responsibility, which I perceive as a token of appreciation for my work so far in this body,' says dr Beata J. Kowalczyk. ‘My experience from previous terms of office has shown how complex and multifaceted the cases considered by the Commission can be. They sometimes concern difficult issues, such as nepotism, an academic staff member's view of the world or his or her extracurricular activities, and sometimes they are unprecedented cases, requiring particular insight and consideration. I believe that the experience I have gained over the years will allow me to continue to contribute to the fair and professional resolution of these difficult cases,’ she adds.
The Disciplinary Committee of the Minister of Science is responsible for conducting disciplinary proceedings against academic staff who are accused of acts contrary to the duties of an academic teacher or the dignity of the academic teaching profession. The Commission acts as an appeal instance against the decisions of the University Disciplinary Committee and the Disciplinary Committee at the General Council for Science and Higher Education.
‘I accepted my election as a member of the Disciplinary Committee of the Minister of Science for the term 2025-2028 with a sense of responsibility. Ethics and the well-being of the academic community are very important to me, so I treat this distinction as an opportunity to support the processes of building justice and transparency in our environment,’ says dr hab. Małgorzata Balwicka-Szczyrba, prof. UG.
Our sincere congratulations!
