Polish Businesswomen Awards for a PhD student from UG

- 'The language school is my passion. I fell in love with teaching,' said mgr Anna Parzyńska, a graduate and PhD student from the Faculty of Philology at the University of Gdańsk. In the 12th Polish Businesswomen Awards competition of the Businswoman&life magazine, she was among the winners.

The editors of Businesswoman&life magazine have announced the winners of the Polish Businesswomen Awards competition for the 12th time. The awards are granted for outstanding achievements, successes and activities so far, as well as for promoting female power, persistence and creativity. The editors honour not only individuals but also companies that have achieved spectacular success in their industry and thus influenced its development. As the organisers of the competition emphasise, the nominees are the best entrepreneurs who act according to the principles of ethics, care for the environment and their employees.

The online awards gala took place on February 26. During the event, in the category Consulting, Education, Law and Logistics, mgr Anna Parzyńska and her School of Foreign Languages CEO Sitrax école were distinguished as the leader among modern language schools.

Mgr Anna Parzyńska is a graduate of the Institute of Roman Philology at the Faculty of Philology of the University of Gdańsk and a PhD student under the wing of dr hab. Joanna Jereczek-Lipińska, prof. UG. She is writing her dissertation on errors in translation of EU directives from French into Polish. She spent six years in France and also has a degree in economics - she completed studies in finance in international trade and post-graduate pedagogical studies.

She tries to combine her economic background with her passion for philology by running her language school. - 'I used my experience and business skills to create my database of translators and teachers,' she recalls the beginnings of the school. She sees her success in specialisation and innovativeness. - 'We found a gap in the market. We provide language training for seafarers. We have the first ATC Marlins test centre in Gdańsk. And we prepare courses for pilots,' she explains. The school also places a strong emphasis on specialist translations - business, legal or medical.

The award winner also successfully implements her business and translation skills in the family business with her husband, concerning the shipbuilding industry and green energy production. She will be speaking about these issues, among others, during the 2nd Made in Poland Congress in Berlin next month. Her plans for the next two years also include defending her doctoral thesis at UG. Privately, she still takes care of her three small children at home. The award was well deserved!
