Another programme supporting scientific development within the Excellence Initiative - the Research University - UG Young Research Group Leaders Programme (junG) has been opened at the University of Gdansk. The programme aims to encourage young scientists to carry out groundbreaking research at the University of Gdańsk.
The programme is aimed at people (not only UG employees) who, after obtaining their PhD degree, had an internship in a foreign centre, are considering what university to bind their future with and are planning to obtain or have obtained a research grant, in particular in programmes: NCN (Polonez, Sonata Bis), NAWA Returns, ERC Starting Grant.
Winners, selected through a competition, will receive a grant from which it will be possible to finance doctoral scholarships for two PhD students at the UG doctoral school and the costs of conducting research activities in the amount of up to PLN 100 000 per year. Also, the winner will receive a place to research along with the possibility to use research infrastructure, as well as administrative support in carrying out the research grant.
'The programme aims to encourage young scientists to carry out groundbreaking research at the University of Gdańsk. The programme supports the establishment of the first research group, which is the best way to obtain habilitation and, consequently, permanent employment at the position of professor at the university,' - says prof. dr hab. Wiesław Laskowski, Vice-Rector for Scientific Research.
The junG programme is another, already the fourth, programme within the Excellence Initiative - Research University at the University of Gdańsk.
