We invite you to participate in a series of online meetings, which were organized for researchers and PhD students of the University of Gdańsk, Gdańsk University of Technology and Gdańsk Medical University. They are aimed at people interested in deepening their knowledge on publishing scientific work, especially publications in scientific journals.
Each online seminar is dedicated to the different stages of preparing and publishing a scientific article - from planning and writing the article, to choosing a good journal to publish it in, to the review process. The topics of each seminar are listed below, together with information on the seminar dates and a registration link.
How to write a scientific article?
During this training course, participants will learn how to write a high-quality scientific article that will be warmly received by the scientific community and will result in good recognition for the author. Tips and best practices in writing scientific articles will be presented, which come from the experience of many scientists, editors and readers. The training is mainly aimed at young researchers, although more experienced academics are also welcome.

Choosing a journal wisely
This training aims to familiarise researchers, PhD students and undergraduates with good practices in journal selection, bibliometric tools and indicators to select and evaluate scientific journals. Participants will also learn what principles to keep in mind when using bibliometric indicators, as well as which tools can be used to consciously choose a good journal to publish their scientific work. The training also covers the issue of publishing in the open-access model.

The scientific peer-review process
During this training, the topic of peer review, which articles undergo before publication in reliable scientific journals, will be discussed in detail. The principles and process of reviewing will be presented, as well as advice and suggestions from editors and reviewers on what to pay attention to when responding to comments in reviews.

About the speaker:
Dr inż. Katarzyna Gaca-Zając - a graduate of the University of Strathclyde, with nearly a decade of experience in research and teaching in Europe, specialising in polymer chemistry and the study of chemical reaction kinetics. Currently a Senior Client Consultant at Elsevier, responsible for the CEE region. She specialises in databases and Elsevier solutions for researchers. She is passionate about work ethics and science communication, as well as bibliometrics in a broad sense.
