The Faculty of History UG is participating in the Open Days of Science - Ocean of Changes, organised by the Institute of Oceanology PAS.
Open Days of Science - Ocean of Change is a continuation of the former Baltic Science Festival. This year, around 40 different institutions are involved in the event. - 'Among them, the organisers lacked humanists and specialists in the history of the region who could promote maritime and aquatic issues,' explains dr Wacław Kulczykowski of the Faculty of History UG. This is why in April 2021 the UG authorities signed a co-operation agreement with the Institute of Oceanology PAS. - 'Thanks to this, the Faculty of History has become one of the co-organisers,' he adds.
Due to the pandemic, the traditional, stationary Picnic with stands in the centre of Sopot was not possible. - 'This year, the Picnic has a rather original form of an application, which is a kind of a digital city game divided into numerous stages,' - explains dr Wacław Kulczykowski. One of the stages is devoted to the Historical Faculty. It will include speeches prepared by prof. dr hab. Beata Możejko (about Gdańsk navigation), dr Anna Sobecka (about amber in Gdańsk) and dr Wacław Kulczykowski (old hydrotechnics in Grudziądz and the game Waterworks!). Due to the pandemic, the promotion of the picnic and the city game is primarily digital.
