5th National Final of the Freight Forwarding and Logistics Contest at the Faculty of Economics UG

The finals of the fifth edition of the National Freight Forwarding and Logistics Contest for secondary school students will be held at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Gdańsk. The participants will compete for transcripts of the Faculty of Economics of UG and attractive prizes.

The Faculty of Economics UG won the competition to run the Contest financed by the Ministry of Education and Science. There will be 38 finalists selected from nearly 4 thousand participants (including three persons from the Pomeranian Voivodship). From October 2020 to March 2021, 2 stages were held: school and district, during which students solved tasks and answered questions related to the TSL industry (transport, forwarding, logistics). The tasks were prepared by the team of the Main Committee of the Contest comprising outstanding scientists and practitioners in the field of functioning of the transport, forwarding and logistics sector - lecturers of the Faculty of Economics of the University of Gdańsk and representatives of business practice.

The participants of the finals will compete on May 28, 2021, for the transcripts of the Faculty of Economics UG in the fields of economics and international economic relations. The transcripts will be given to the winners and finalists (a finalist is a person who scores a minimum of 30%). Prizes funded by sponsors will be awarded: LPP S.A. (1st place) - PLN 3 thousand and Nautiqus Food Logistics (2nd place) - PLN 2 thousand, as well as prizes in kind for the winners of the first 10 places.

Recall that currently at the Faculty of Economics UG studies a total of over three thousand full-time and part-time students, postgraduate students and PhD students, the scientific and teaching staff counts more than 130 academic teachers. Students have the opportunity to obtain broad and thorough knowledge within the following fields of study: economics, international economic relations (including an English-language major in international business), chemical business and ecological business and technology. In the second year of studies, students choose the profile of education within 20 study majors, providing modern qualifications sought in the labour market.

Studies are carried out in cooperation with business practitioners and organisations, with domestic and foreign research institutes, science and technology parks and business incubators. Students benefit from training cycles, workshops with managers, internships, study visits and study trips abroad within the ERASMUS programme. Within the framework of practical training, the Faculty has, among others, a Refinitive computer laboratory providing access to the world's leading financial database, a dealing room - a simulator of a bank's treasury department, an OSTC trading laboratory, a specialist logistics laboratory (Oracle, Aris, SAP) and a computer and examination centre accredited by ACCA. The Faculty offers education in majors allowing to follow a career path in the TSL sector, such as transport economics and logistics, international transport and maritime trade.
