Prestigious EMBO grant for dr Paulina Nastala

Dr Paulina Nastały, from the Translational Oncology Department at the Institute of Medical Biotechnology and Experimental Oncology, GUMed, has received funding from an EMBO Scientific Exchange Grant for a project entitled: 'The interplay between nuclear envelope architecture, glucocorticoid signalling and YAP pathway leading to prostate cancer progression', which will be carried out with prof. Giannino Del Sal at the International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB ) in Trieste, Italy.

- 'The financial support of the EMBO Scientific Exchange Grant will allow us to investigate the interplay between nuclear envelope protein localization, glucocorticoid signalling and mechanobiology of prostate cancer cells, which may lead to an increase in its aggressiveness,' – informs grant winner dr Paulina Nastały.

The research will allow for a better understanding of prostate cancer biology and the establishment of international scientific cooperation with the ICGEB institute.

EMBO is an organisation of over 1800 leading scientists from all over the world. The organisation's main goals are to support talented scientists at all stages of their careers, to stimulate the exchange of scientific information and to help build a research environment in which scientists can do their best work. EMBO helps young scientists to develop their research, promote their international reputation and ensure mobility. EMBO Press courses, workshops, lectures and publications disseminate the latest research and offer training in techniques for maintaining high standards of excellence in research practice.
