'Dajemy w Łapę!' - last days of collection for animals from shelters

The winter collection for animals from Tri-City shelters is still on until the end of December 2021. If you have excess unnecessary towels, blankets or old bed covers at home, share them with the animals.

Throughout the year the shelter uses a lot of towels (e.g. to dry dogs after bathing), and blankets and pillowcases are mainly used for kittens and puppies. The textile storerooms, therefore, need to be replenished regularly. Anyone can help.

- 'The shelter collects vitamins, food and textiles all year round, but we realise that not everyone who would like to donate e.g. a towel, leash or a tin of food has time to drive there. We've decided to make it easier for our staff and students by organising a collection at the university,' - says Łukasz Bień, head of the UG Student Parliament Office.

Let's remember that the textiles don't have to be new, but they should be clean - there's no technical possibility to wash or dry more of these items. What is important - for sanitary reasons the shelter cannot accept stuffed items such as pillows, quilts and mattresses.

- 'It is important to remember that a large proportion of shelter residents are animals in need of really good quality food which will help them recover quickly, so it is not the quantity but, above all, the quality of the food that we are collecting that is so important,' - stresses Weronika Wolska from the UG Promotion Team. There is also a great need for blankets to protect dogs from the cold. Unfortunately, dogs often destroy them, so the needs in this respect are enormous.

Until the end of December for the charges of the shelter "Promyk" in Gdańsk we collect mainly:
