According to the list of scored scientific journals from December 21, the value of scientific journals of the University of Gdańsk increased by 205 points. Changes were made to 7 UG publications. Four of them were given higher scores and the remaining three were added to the list.

The Ministry of Science and Education has again prepared a list of scored scientific journals and conference proceedings. There are now 32,700 items on the full list as of December 21, 2021. Between February 18, 2021, and December 1, 2021, 1,228 titles were added or increased in scoring. This is a change comparable to that at the beginning of the year when the value of 1296 scientific periodicals was affected.

Slight differences can be seen in the subject matter of the journals scored. During the previous changes, publications from the HST fields (Humanities, Society and Theology) gained the most. The situation is now similar. Most points were awarded to journals in history (11870 points) and cultural and religious sciences (10560 points). However, there is a tendency for journals on medical topics to score higher. Medical sciences (9680 pts) and health sciences (9300 pts) are ranked third and fifth respectively, followed by biomedical engineering (7780 pts) in eighth and pharmaceutical sciences in tenth (6940 pts).

Changes in the scoring of over a thousand scientific periodicals also mean changes for the University of Gdańsk publications. The yearbook 'Etnografia. Praktyki, Teorie, Doświadczenia' is worth 70 points instead of 40. In the same way, the scoring of two law journals has been increased. The quarterly journals 'Gdańskie Studia Prawnicze' and 'Financial Law Review' have increased from 40 to 70 points. The periodical 'Prace Komisji Geografii Komunikacji PTG' has increased by two levels from 20 to 70 points.

In the list of MEiN, there also appeared three new items published by UG: 'Rocznik Gdański' (20 points), 'Współczesna Gospodarka' (40 points) and 'Zarządzanie Biblioteką' (20 pts.). Before the change, all the above periodicals were valued at 5 points, as this is the value of off-list journals.

Finally, it is worth recalling that the points directly influence the evaluation of researchers and their universities. For each article published in a journal, a researcher and his/her institution receive a number of points corresponding to the value of the journal. Points can often translate into financial gain or a career trajectory.
