The Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Gdańsk has become one of the most important places on the map of Gdańsk connected with helping Ukraine. All thanks to the Students for Ukraine collection, which has been organised at the Faculty for over two months. The action currently includes activities related to the collection of food, medical supplies, transport of gifts to Ukraine, collection of funds as well as articles or items needed by refugees staying in Gdańsk (e.g. bicycles and scooters).

- 'However, we are also active in disseminating information about the situation in Ukraine or cooperation between our nations. One of the manifestations of such activities is the organisation of the Consul General of Ukraine's visit to the Faculty of Social Sciences,' - informs Marcelina Wilczewska, an organiser of the Students for Ukraine action, the Head of the Volunteer Team of the Centre of Student and Doctoral Activities at the University of Gdańsk.

- 'The meeting, which took place on April 29, was open to all members of the UG academic community, but also to those interested from outside the University,' - says Łukasz Bień, Head of the Office of the UG Centre for Student and Doctoral Activities.

The meeting was opened by Andrzej Skiba from the Centre for International Debate in Gdańsk, who expressed his thanks to the university authorities, represented by the Vice-Rector for Student Affairs and Education Quality, dr hab. Arnold Kłonczyński, prof. UG, and the faculty authorities, represented by the acting Dean, dr hab. Danuta Plecka, prof. UG, who in their short speeches talked about the scale of the activities and the involvement of students and the academic community.

In the first part of the meeting, questions were asked by the host Marcelina Wilczewska. In the following part, the Consul answered questions asked by the audience.

The participants of the meeting could find out, among other things, what a career in the Ukrainian diplomatic corps looks like, what education the guest has and how he started his mission.

A significant number of questions referred directly to the ongoing war in Ukraine. They asked about the guest's predictions for the duration of the hostilities, his opinion on the specific forms of support from Western countries and tactical and strategic perspectives.

After the meeting, the Consul was presented with a gift and thanks, and the organisers of the event talked about their plans for future activities related to supporting the Ukrainian community.
