Fifty-three speakers from seven scientific centres in Poland gave presentations at the Faculty of Chemistry of UG during the IV. edition of the nationwide 'ChemBiŚ' conference. The event aims to integrate students and doctoral students and allow them to meet new people from the scientific community.
Participants had the opportunity to listen to three lectures by invited guests. Dr hab. inż. Aneta Szymańska, prof. UG, talked about internal and external factors affecting the stability of amyloidogenic proteins, dr Andrzej Wolan from the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń gave a lecture entitled 'From idea to global presence', and dr Adam Bordo from UG talked about the role of social media in marketing communication of enterprises. In addition, Lena Najman from Primary School No. 20 in Gdynia presented a paper entitled. "What is worth knowing about acids? Does your school breakfast food contain acids?".
The best presentations were awarded by the Scientific Committee. In the category of oral communications concerning own research, the prizes went to Michał Cisiński from the Wrocław University of Technology, Cyprian Doroszko from the University of Łódź and Amanda Kulpa-Koterwa from the University of Gdańsk. In the category of poster communications on own research, the Scientific Committee awarded prizes to Daniel Slowinski of the Technical University of Łódź, Szymon Zdybel from the University of Gdańsk and Małgorzata Świerczynska from the Technical University of Łódź. The award for the best popular science oral communication went to Daria Łada from UG, while the award for the best popular science poster went to Dominika Parasińska also from UG.
The conference was organised by three student research clubs from the UG Department of Chemistry: The Scientific Circle of Chemical Business (KNBCh), the Scientific Club of Environmental Protection (KNOŚ) and the Scientific Club of Chemists UG (NKCh), as well as the Council of the Student Government of the Faculty of Chemistry (RSSWCh UG).
