Epidemiological data from recent years indicates that one of the most significant challenges in the mental health field is the diagnosis and medical, psychological and social interactions with people who experience increased self-destructivity (self-harm, suicide attempts, addictions, etc.). These issues will be explored at a conference on the occasion of the National and International Day against Depression, organised at the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Gdańsk.
Registration for the National and International Day against Depression Conference runs until February 19. The university employees and students do not pay a fee to attend the event.
- 'We hope that the conference will provide a space for discussion and reflection on understanding the complexity of the mechanisms of self-harm and will create opportunities to learn about the latest results of original research, to exchange views, as well as to present and search for practical solutions,' - says dr hab. Wioletta Radziwiłłowicz, prof. UG from the Faculty of Social Sciences, co-organiser of the conference, and creator of postgraduate studies in psychotraumatology at UG.
The conference will take place on February 23 this year at the Faculty of Social Sciences UG, ul. Bażyńskiego 4. Kick-off at 9 am. Six speeches are scheduled in the Programme: 'And nothing is enough, and nothing is no more. A clinical and cinematic introduction to self-harm's mechanisms', 'The Worst Enemy. Notes on self-aggression, depression and grief', 'Total and partial specificity of self-destructive behaviour in selected genetic syndromes', 'Self-destructive behaviour in the course of depression in adolescents with autism spectrum disorders', 'Seeking safety in psychotherapy of psychoactive substance addicts', 'Suicidal crisis - personal values, developing attentiveness and psychological flexibility'.
