MWB awarded the Certificate of Educational Excellence

On 3 December 2020, the Polish Accreditation Committee (PKA) awarded the Biotechnology study program at the Intercollegiate Faculty of Biotechnology of UG and MUG with the Certificate of Educational Excellence in the category "Excellent programme - excellence in education".

It is a great honour because the Biotechnology programme at MWB UG and MUG is the only Biotechnology programme in Poland to receive this distinction. The Polish Accreditation Committee appreciated the very high quality of education within the Biotechnology programme at the Intercollegiate Faculty of Biotechnology of the University of Gdańsk and the Medical University of Gdańsk emphasising that it was outstanding and thus fully deserved the Certificate of Excellence in Education.

The Biotechnology programme is run in cooperation between the University of Gdańsk and the Medical University of Gdańsk and is entirely in line with both universities' strategies. Thanks to the staff's professional experience and the nature of scientific research conducted at both universities, the programme combines biomedical and biomolecular aspects and their application in biotechnology.

The programme involves interdisciplinary education of students in biotechnology for health and improvement of the quality of life fully corresponding to the disciplines relevant to the course, i.e. biological sciences and medical sciences.

The programme complies with the highest teaching standards in international cooperation, and students are included in research projects conducted at the Faculty at various stages of their studies. The first cycle studies are based on concept-based learning, which goes beyond the simple communication of information developed for traditional education and focuses on understanding and relating facts into a coherent and logical whole while linking theory with practice.

The recognition which the program has gained is the result of the extraordinary commitment of all academic teachers, doctoral students and employees associated with this field of study.
