Prof. Grzegorz Węgrzyn becoming Vice-Chairman of the Council for Scientific Excellence

Prof. Grzegorz Węgrzyn was elected Vice-Chairman of the CSE during the first plenary meeting of the Council for Scientific Excellence (CSE) for the term 2024-2027.

Prof. Grzegorz Węgrzyn served as the Chair of the CSE for the first term (2019-2023) after his appointment in 2019 by the Minister of Science and Higher Education Jarosław Gowin. In December 2023, the Minister of Education and Science, Przemysław Czarnek, appointed prof. Bronislaw Sitek of the SWPS University in Warsaw to the position for the term 2024-2027. According to the law, the Chairperson of the CSE is appointed by the Minister from among the newly elected members of the CSE, while all members of the CSE elect the Vice-Chairpersons and the Secretary in plenary.

During the election of the two vice-chairs of the CSE, prof. Grzegorz Węgrzyn received the highest number of votes. Prof. Marian Gorynia from the Poznań University of Economics was elected second vice-chairman of the Council for Scientific Excellence, and prof. Mansur Rahnama-Hezavah from the Medical University of Lublin was elected secretary of the CSE.

The Council for Scientific Excellence aims to ensure the development of scientific staff following the highest quality standards of scientific activity required to obtain scientific degrees, degrees in art and the title of professor.
