Academic Citizens' Budget of the University of Gdańsk (ACB UG) is a project which allows UG employees, students and doctoral students to submit their ideas for the development of the university. Submission in the third edition of ACB UG launches on April 2, 2024.
In the first two editions of ACB UG, the academic community selected in a vote 8 projects for implementation: 4 in the staff project category and also 4 in the student project pool.
All 4 projects from the first edition of the ACB UG were implemented last year. Two of them - submitted by employees – concerned the outdoor area of the UG campus in Oliva. These are the pocket park by the Neophilology building and the Gym & Street Workout - a zone with outdoor exercise equipment, which was located in the vicinity of the administration building at 1a Bażyńskiego Street. The other two projects - submitted by students and doctoral students - concerned the development of the faculties' internal spaces into relaxation and leisure zones; they resulted in the creation of a University-wide Zero Stress Zone at WPiA and a Chillout Zone at WNS.
The projects selected in last year's competition are being prepared for implementation and will be completed by the end of September this year. In the pool of staff projects, these include the project entitled 'Pocket in Humanities' - i.e. the revitalisation of the patio in the Faculty of Languages and the Faculty of History building - and 'U-type bicycle racks under the roof of the Rectorate'. In turn, from among the student projects, the ‘Co-Economy - a co-working zone of the Faculty of Economics of the University of Gdańsk’ will be realised. - the task envisages the creation of a friendly zone for studying and relaxing for students and employees of the Faculty of Economics in the connector between Aula A and B. The second student project selected last year is the 'Eco-nomic Park'. The idea is to create an outdoor ecological space for quiet and relaxation between classes. It will be created in the vicinity of the Faculty of Economics building, on the side of Student House No. 7 and the Foreign Languages Centre.
