April is upon us. Full after Easter, but hungry for culture? Come to the UG Film Centre!

On April 5 at 6 p.m., we once again invite you to 20 Days in Mariupol, a harrowing documentary recording the first days after the outbreak of war in Ukraine.

The second part of Dune, directed by Denis Villeneuve, reigns supreme in cinemas - for us, it is an opportunity to refresh the classic. On April 12 at 6 p.m., we will screen David Lynch's Dune (1984), an earlier screen adaptation of Frank Herbert's cult sci-fi novel. Our guide around Arrakis will be dr hab. Sebastian Jakub Konefał, prof. UG.

On the last Wednesday of the month (April 24), we will meet scenographer Magdalena Dipont on the occasion of the screening of Krzysztof Kieślowski's Decalogue VII as part of the Decalogue cycle, and a day later we will be treated to a screening of Borys Lankosz's Rewers (2009) as part of Cinematic Poland. The lecture and discussion after the film will be in English and the film will be screened with English subtitles.

As every month, we invite you to free film screenings with lectures as part of the Polish Film Academy. On screen, we will see The Doll (1968, Wojciech Jerzy Has), Lesson of a Dead Language (1979, Janusz Majewski), and The Maids of Wilko (1979, Andrzej Wajda).

Those who haven't seen it yet must make up for it with the beautiful visual journey through the depths of the ocean that is Whale Song. The Millennium Docs Against Gravity Documentary Film Academy will also be showing Werner Herzog. The Radical Dreamer and Instagram Family.
