‘Employer - organiser of safe work’ and ‘Most active employee in occupational health and safety’ are two competitions in which the University of Gdańsk stood out this year. The award for the employer in the competition organised by the Regional Labour Inspectorate in Gdańsk was collected on behalf of the UG by the Vice-Rector for Education, dr Ewa Szymczak, prof. UG. The first award for the most active worker in occupational health and safety in the competition organised by the OIP in Gdańsk and the National Association of Occupational Health and Safety Service Employees, Gdańsk Branch, was received by Tomasz Klawikowski, Head of the Health and Safety Inspectorate at UG.

‘Both of these awards are indeed a great distinction and confirmation that our University is heading in the right direction,’ said Tomasz Klawikowski, who has been heading the Health and Safety Inspectorate at the University of Gdańsk for over 4 years. ‘I am glad that the work for work safety has real significance and is recognised, also outside our university. For me personally, this is a reason for great satisfaction and proof that commitment and passion really do bear fruit.’

The ‘Employer - Organiser of Safe Work’ competition included three categories of companies established according to the number of employees: up to 49 employees, 50 to 249 employees and more than 249 employees. In the latter category, the University of Gdańsk was ranked first. ‘On the basis of a competition application, an inspector from the National Labour Inspectorate carried out an inspection at our university in August this year to assess the measures and good practices implemented,’ explained Tomasz Klawikowski.

In the second competition, the three most active representatives of the occupational health and safety service in the region were recognised, including - in first place - Tomasz Klawikowski. ‘I feel great joy, but also gratitude towards the people with whom I have the pleasure of working daily. It is thanks to our joint efforts that we can achieve such success,’ says the awardee.
