The year 2026 begins with the University of Gdańsk moving up in important global university rankings, confirming its strong position among Polish universities.
The QS agency has published the latest edition of the QS World University Rankings: Europe 2026, covering 958 universities from across Europe. The University of Gdańsk has once again been included in this ranking, improving its position and taking 321st place.
The QS World University Rankings: Europe 2026 includes 40 universities from Poland, which is 9 more than in the previous ranking. The University of Gdańsk ranked 5th in the group of universities.
The strong position of the University of Gdańsk among Polish universities is confirmed by the results of another ranking published at the beginning of 2026. In the latest edition of the Webometrics.org ranking, which evaluates universities from around the world based on their online visibility, the University of Gdańsk was ranked 958th in the world, which is the best result our university has achieved in this ranking, which covers approximately 32,000 higher education and research institutions from around the world. The published results give our university a 130-place jump in the world rankings and 5th place among Polish universities, with the University of Gdańsk second only to Jagiellonian University, the University of Warsaw, Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań and Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń. At the same time, it is among the select group of eleven Polish universities that have entered the TOP 1000 of the Webometrics.org ranking.
