Over 80 educational stands, a stage, themed zones, health screenings - the 5th Fahrenheit Science Picnic is fast approaching, an event where science leaves the universities and laboratories, combining fun with exploring the world through all the senses. The Fahrenheit universities invite you to Góra Gradowa on 24 May: free entry!
Whatever your age or interests, there’s something for everyone. The science village itself (67 tents) is a treasure trove of knowledge, brought to life through hands-on experiences and fun. Let yourself be swept away by science enthusiasts - fascinating facts from the fields of science (including robotics), medicine, the biological sciences and the humanities await. As every year, educators from the Medical University of Gdańsk, Gdańsk University of Technology and the University of Gdańsk are preparing a host of attractions, from demonstrations to workshops and educational games.
Participants will also be able to enjoy the science stage programme, themed zones and activities prepared by the event’s partners.
The programme for the 5th Fahrenheit Science Picnic includes, amongst other things:
- 5 hours of science demonstrations, presentations and talks on stage (including a theatre performance and a zero-waste fashion show),
- 67 educational stands with activities prepared by educators from MUG, GdańskTech and UG,
- partner zones in the lower and upper areas of Hevelianum, featuring, amongst other things, robotics attractions, virtual tours of a nuclear reactor, gravity races and remote-controlled F1 miniatures, road safety simulators, and workshops on offshore energy and renewable energy sources,
- preventive health checks and tests available on-site,
- activities in the Toddler Zone and a reading session featuring a book on healthy eating habits (free copies will be available to take home),
- sports activities and stretching workshops,
- nature walks.
Further information and the full programme can be found on the event website.
We invite everyone who likes to ask questions, experiment, explore and discover what is fascinating, unexpected and surprising.
Fahrenheit Science Picnic was launched on the initiative of Fahrenheit University and is being organised in collaboration with Hevelianum for the fifth time. We are joining forces to create a programme that brings scientific topics closer to both the youngest explorers and adult participants. We are fostering curiosity and sharing our passion, revealing the less obvious side of science.
Important:
- it’s worth bringing your own water bottle: there will be a water tanker with drinking water and a soda fountain on site,
- the lower and upper Hevelianum car parks will be closed from 22 May (Friday) to 24 May, and Gradowa Street will be closed to traffic,
- the organisers reserve the right to make changes to the event programme in the event of adverse weather conditions.
