5th Scientific Seminar 'Forum of Young Romanists

The Department of Roman Law at the Department of Civil Law of the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Gdańsk invites you to an international scientific seminar. The meeting will take place on June 30, online.

The first meeting of this kind was held in Gdańsk on November 26, 2015, under the name of the All-Polish Forum of Young Romanists - 'Analogies, inspirations, reflections or about the dilemmas of a contemporary researcher of Roman law', and its aftermath was the publication of a book entitled Ius pluribus modis dicitur - Roman law still alive, Gdańsk 2016. The topics of subsequent seminars were: 'Learning and teaching Roman law' (March 21, 2017), 'Definire necessarium est? Roman legal terms and their definitions' (April 13, 2018) and 'Lawyers and values in the ancient world and today' (June 15-16, 2019).

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this year's conference will be held online via the MS Teams platform. The seminar will have an international dimension - one of the speakers will be dr Anna Plisecka, currently affiliated with Kalaidos Fachhochschule in Switzerland. The meeting will be attended by representatives of leading centres of Roman law research in Poland, including dr Piotr Alexandrowicz, this year's grantee of the Foundation for Polish Science (Scholarship, START 2021 for the best young scientists). For the first time, students from the University of Gdańsk and UWM in Olsztyn will also participate as speakers.

The event is organised by the Department of Roman Law at the Department of Civil Law of the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Gdańsk.
