Three academics of the University of Gdańsk were honoured with national decorations awarded by the President of the Republic of Poland for their merits in scientific and research work and teaching. The ceremony took place in the Pomeranian Voivodship Office in Gdańsk. - 'The best commentary to my honour is its justification. I receive the Knight's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta "for outstanding merits in scientific and research work, teaching and literary work, for activities to popularise the culture of the Kashubian and Kociewie regions' - said prof. dr hab. Tadeusz Linkner, one of the honoured scientists of the University of Gdańsk.
By the decision of the President of the Republic of Poland, three distinguished academics of the University of Gdańsk were decorated:
The Officer's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta, for outstanding contribution to the development of railway transport, for achievements in scientific and research work was awarded to prof. dr hab. Mirosław Chaberek from the Faculty of Economics UG (from March 1, 2021, a research worker at the Maritime University in Gdynia)
The Knight's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta, for outstanding contribution to scientific and research work, teaching and literary work, for activities to popularise the culture of the Kashubian and Kociewie region, was awarded to prof. dr hab. Tadeusz Linkner from the Faculty of Philology
The Medal of the Hundred Years of Regained Independence, for services to the Independent State, was awarded to prof. dr hab. Jacek Zaucha from the Faculty of Economics, UG.
The award ceremony took place on Wednesday, June 30, 2021, in the Lech Kaczyński Hall of the Pomeranian Provincial Office in Gdańsk.
Prof. dr hab. Mirosław Chaberek, professor in economic sciences. Interests: automation in handling human life functions, design, construction and DIY. Amongst other positions held: Head of the Department of Logistics at the University of Gdańsk (1995-2020), Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Economics at the University of Gdańsk (2002-2005), Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Transport and Construction, later the Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Infrastructure (2005-2008), 1978- 1982 member of the Transport Commission of the Polish Economic Society, member of the Society of Polish Consultants (1985 to 1990, 2002-2005 member of the Main Board of the Polish Logistics Society. From 1999 to 2002 Chairman of the Gdańsk Branch of the Polish Logistic Society, advisor to the Consultation and Concept Team at the General Directorate of PKP, Restructuring Office (1997-1998), member of the Team for elaboration of the programme for improvement of the economic situation and development of the PKP Group companies (2002-2004), consultant, advisor to the Restructuring Office of the General Directorate of PKP (1996-1999), deputy Chairman of the Scientific Council of the Railway Scientific and Technical Centre in Warsaw (2000-2004), member of the Senate Commission for Organisation and Development of the University of Gdańsk for the term of office of 2002-2005, member of the Logistics Section of the Transport Committee of the Polish Academy of Sciences for the term (2007-2010), deputy chairman of the Technical and Economic Council to the President of the Railway Transport Office (2004-2006), member of the Logistics in Transport Section of the Polish Academy of Sciences for the term (2007-2010), member of the Council of the National Centre for Research and Development (2007-2008), member of the Railway Transport Board of the Railway Transport Office (2004-2006), member of the Railway Transport Advisory Board of the Polish Ministry of Transport and Development (2007-2009). Member of the Railway Transport Council of the Railway Transport Office (since January 2018, still). Creator of the Sopot School of Logistics, initiator of the annual national conference "Modelling of Logistic Processes and Systems" at the Faculty of Economics UG from 2000 to 2020, initiator and co-organiser and first supervisor of the student's Scientific Circle of Logistics. Author of over 60 research papers, projects, restructuring plans for transport and logistics, opinions, expert opinions and reviews in the field of railways and logistics. Prof. Chaberek has been awarded, among others, the Golden Cross of Merit (1999), the Medal of the Commission of National Education (2017), the Medal of the 100th Anniversary of Regaining Independence (2019). Since March 1, 2021, a researcher at the Maritime University in Gdynia.
Prof. dr hab. Tadeusz Józef Linkner, Polish literary historian, publicist. Tadeusz Linkner became professor of the University of Gdańsk in 1996, titular professor in 2004, and full professor in 2007. In the years 1969-1973 Tadeusz Linkner was a teacher in primary schools in Będzimierowice, Chojnice County, and Tropiszewo - Malbork County. Then, in the years 1973-1983, he taught in secondary schools in Kościerzyna and Ozorków, Łęczyca county. Since 1983, Professor Tadeusz Linkner has been working at the University of Gdańsk and, apart from the history of Young Poland literature, he has been dealing with Slavic mythology in our literature, regional literature of Kashubia and Kociewie, editing and literary criticism. He is an editor, and author of almost fifty books, including 18 strictly author's books. He has published over 400 articles, sketches and reviews in collective books, scientific periodicals and other journals, not counting over 200 reviews and texts in the daily and local press, as well as the Polish language press in Toronto. He participated in scientific sessions and conferences in Poland and abroad (Bremen, Lübeck, Toronto, Ottawa). He has received several times the rector of UG awards, the last one in 2015. He lives in Kościerzyna and is an Honorary Citizen of this city. In 1998 Prof. Tadeusz Linkner received the Golden Cross of Merit, in 2005 the Stolem Medal, in 2007 Kociewskie Pióro, and 2009 the Medal of the National Education Commission.
Dr hab. Jacek Zaucha, professor of the University of Gdańsk, a specialist in economic sciences. Interests: macroeconomics, EU regional policy, spatial economy, spatial planning, Baltic integration. Senator of the University of Gdańsk, member of the Committee on National Spatial Planning of the Polish Academy of Sciences, member of the Pomeranian Investment Council for Reimbursable Instruments and the Pomeranian Territorial Forum at the Marshal of Pomorskie Voivodeship. Long-term chairman of the Polish section of the Alumni Schools Committees at Princeton University, scholarship holder at Princeton and Oxford Universities. Former chairman of the Land Use and Spatial Planning Committee of the Baltic Region. Participant and manager of implementation projects on spatial development issues for European Commission, Ministry of Regional Development, Gdańsk-Gdynia-Sopot Metropolitan Area, as well as research projects funded by National Science Centre, ESPON, Horizon 2020, 7th Framework Programme, BONUS Programme. Author and co-author of publications on spatial planning and management, spatial development, maritime development, territorial cohesion, EU cohesion policy and Baltic integration. Co-author of Territorial Agenda EU 2020, Concept of National Spatial Planning, first Polish Maritime Spatial Plan.
