The only state document that confirms one's proficiency in Polish language as a foreign language is the State Certificate Examinations in Polish as a Foreign Language, issued – after passing the assessment – by the State Commission for the Certification of Proficiency in Polish as a Foreign Language. The certificates are set according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages: learning, teaching, assessment (CEFR) - A1, A2, B1, B2, C1 i C2

Polish language certificates are available for two age groups: adopted for children and teenagers needs and for adults

Regardless of the level of Polish language certificate, foreigners holding the certificate are given considerable rights, for instance it allows to apply for RP citizenship (at least B1 certificate level) and receive charges exemptions for foreigners studying full-time in Polish (at least C1 certificate level).
