The Senate of the University of Gdańsk adopted a resolution to suspend cooperation with Russian and Belarusian universities and research centres until the end of military operations and the withdrawal of Russian troops from the territory of Ukraine.
'In connection with the declaration of solidarity with Ukraine expressed in resolution no. 7/22 of the Senate of the University of Gdańsk of February 24, 2022, the University of Gdańsk decides to suspend cooperation with Russian and Belarusian universities and research centres until the end of military operations and the withdrawal of Russian troops from the territory of Ukraine' - reads the resolution.
At the same time, the Senate appealed to the universities and research centres cooperating with the University of Gdańsk to strongly and unequivocally condemn the war conducted by Russia against Ukraine.
'An unequivocal voice of opposition to the armed actions carried out by Russia in Ukraine and an appeal to start peace talks may put pressure on the Russian authorities to put an end to these tragic consequences of aggressive military actions and may have a significant meaning for the world peace' - resolved the UG senators.
Let us recall that on March 2, 2022, the Presidium of CRASP (the Conference of Rectors of Academic Schools in Poland) issued an appeal to the Polish scientific community, Polish universities and units of the Polish Academy of Sciences to cease cooperation with any governmental organization of the Russian Federation or any other country that supports the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
At the same time, it assured support and assistance to those scientists and members of the Russian academic community who oppose this aggression.
