For the 28^th time the Foundation for Polish Science  granted scholarships under the START program for the most talented Polish researchers. 100 outstanding young scientist will receive the scholarship this year.

Start program scholarship recipients are selected through the highly competitive, multi-stage competition to evaluate quality of their scientific achievements so far. The hundred winning researchers were selected among 845 candidates. The majority of the winners represent biological and medical sciences, technical sciences, humanities and social sciences.

Four University of Gdańsk researchers have been selected this year, each will receive annual scholarship of PLN 28.000. The researchers are:

1. Dr Joanna Drzeżdżon from the Faculty of Chemistry in chemistry field;
2. Mgr Agnieszka Grajewska from the Faculty of Oceanography  and Geography in hydrology and oceanology field;
3. Mgr Igor Obuchowski from the Intercollegiate Faculty of Biotechnology in molecular biology field;
4.  Dr Karolina Pierzynowska from the Faculty of Biology in medical biology field
