On September 20-21, 2022, the summit of the European University of the Seas SEA-EU took place in Brest, with members of the Governing Board and Executive Committee in attendance.
The authorities of the partner universities that will join the alliance next year also attended: the University of Algarve (Portugal), the University of Parthenope in Naples (Italy) and Nord University (Norway).
The University of Cadiz, as the project coordinator, presented a summary of the first phase and plans for SEA-EU 2.0. The consortium will continue to develop collaborations with the business community, research agencies, authorities, foundations and educational institutions. Research and business activities related to the seas and oceans will also continue, and the Sustainable Development Goals will be the theme for the second part of the project.
The programme of events also included a conference on the contemporary challenges of the European maritime economy at the Oceanopolis, a visit to the City Council and a guided tour of Brest.
The University of Gdańsk was represented by the Vice-Rector for International Cooperation, Professor Anna Jurkowska-Zeidler, the Vice-Rector for Student Affairs and Education Quality, Professor Arnold Kłonczyński, the Director of the Development Project Management Office, Ewa Weronis and UG students Marta Kustosz and Maciej Małolepszy from the Intercollegiate Faculty of Biotechnology UG&MUG.
