Ladies and gentlemen, 

As of 28 September 2020, dr hab. Jerzy Piotr Gwizdała, prof. UG has relinquished his Rector’s post and submitted resignation to dr Marek Głuchowski, the Chairman of the University of Gdańsk Council.

The current circumstances do not impact proper functioning of the University of Gdańsk. In accordance with the UG statute, art. 49, para. 2, prof. dr hab. Krzysztof Bielawski, Vice-Rector for Development and Cooperation with Business and Industry, will be acting Rector of the University of Gdańsk. Vice-Rectors, deans and heads of other UG units should perform their normal duties and responsibilities based on powers of attorney granted by Rector.

The University of Gdansk Council, with the participation of UG Vice-Rectors and the Chairman of University Electoral Commission, will meet tomorrow (29 September 2020) to issue special announcement on further actions with regard to the Rector’s resignation.
