Disability Issues Office of the University of Gdańsk opens recruitment for math materials accommodation specialists and educational assistants. All levels students (both full-time and part-time) can apply, everyone who likes helping others.

Math materials accommodation specialist:

We invite all interested in mathematics to accommodate math materials for blind and near-blind people.

Who can become an accommodation specialist? Any student/ doctoral student of mathematics related majors, such as: mathematics, physics, IT, finances etc. Previous disability accommodation experience is not required. Commitment is the most important quality for us, along with good math knowledge and willingness to develop your competences.

Requirements:

  • Good/ very good academic level mathematical knowledge;
  • Thoroughness;
  • Mathematical notation software skills;
  • Microsoft Office skills;
  • Creativity and out-of-the-box thinking.

We invite all levels students (both full-time and part-time) to apply for the Educational Assistant position. Anyone who likes helping others can become one.

Who is an Educational Assistant?

  • A student/ doctoral student who helps a disabled peer with studying and matters related to studying.
  • A colleague from classes, course of study.

Tasks of an Educational Assistant:

  • Taking notes during classes;
  • Help in getting classes materials;
  • Help in reading out content from printed materials/ presentations;
  • Help in moving from room to room during physical classes on site;
  • Help in logging in to online classes at Teams platform;
  • Help in browsing publications;
  • Help in preparing for classes, test, exams.

What can you gain by becoming an Educational Assistant?

  • Contract of mandate with the University of Gdańsk;
  • Trainings on supporting disabled people;
  • Opportunity to meet new, interesting people and expand personal network of contacts.
