We know the winners of the START 2023 competition

For the 31st time, the Foundation for Polish Science has awarded scholarships in the START programme to the most talented young scientists from all over Poland. They will be awarded to 100 outstanding young scientists, including four scientists from the University of Gdańsk.

The START programme of the Foundation for Polish Science is the oldest scholarship programme in Poland for the best young scientists representing all fields of science. It aims to support outstanding young scientists and encourage further scientific development.

Winners of the START programme receive an annual scholarship of PLN 30,000. They can use it for any purpose. START scholarship recipients are selected through a multi-stage competition in which the quality of their scientific achievements to date is assessed. The programme is highly competitive.

100 researchers awarded this year were selected from a pool of 660 candidates.

Among the laureates were 4 scientists from the University of Gdańsk (alphabetical order of names):

  2. dr Monika Lipińska—Faculty of Biology
  3. dr Samanta Romanowska—Faculty of Chemistry
  4. mgr Kinga Wiśniewska—Faculty of Oceanography and Geography
