Another four scientists from UG were awarded in the National Science Centre's MINIATURA 7 competition for single scientific activities. The competition offered grants for preliminary studies, pilot studies, queries, scientific internships, and research and consultancy trips. Only scientists who had not previously managed NCN grants were eligible to participate.
Funding for activities in July was awarded to four people from UG, with the following joining the group of winners:
- dr Dominika Studzińska from the Faculty of Social Sciences, an activity entitled 'Borderlands in times of (in)certainty. Development challenges of border municipalities with Belarus after the outbreak of war in Ukraine', with funding of PLN 16,511.00 for preliminary/pilot research;
- dr Patrycja Wilczewska from the Faculty of Chemistry, activity entitled 'Piezophotocatalysis - a new method for highly efficient excitation of bismuth p-type and n-type semiconductors', which awarded funding for preliminary/pilot research in the amount of PLN 49,500.00;
- dr Olga Antczak-Orlewska from the Department of Biology, activity entitled 'Holocene climatic fluctuations in the Yan-Indygir Plain (north-eastern Yakutia, Sakha Republic) in the light of palaeoecological studies', which awarded funding for queries in the amount of PLN 26,290.00;
- dr Leszek Kadziński from the Intercollegiate Faculty of Biotechnology of the University of Gdańsk and the Medical University of Gdańsk, action entitled '"Silica shield": Improving the Stability and Efficacy of Bacteriophage Endolysins by Entrapping them in Silica Composites', for which funding for preliminary/pilot research was awarded in the amount of PLN 49,610.00.
