Five scientists from the University of Gdańsk will sit on the Council for Scientific Excellence for the 2024–2027 term. On October 6, 2023, the Election Committee announced the results of the elections to the Council for Scientific Excellence for the 2024–2027 term.
The Council for Scientific Excellence works to ensure the development of scientific staff according to the highest standards of scientific quality required for degrees, degrees in the arts and the title of professor. The Election Committee, on October 6, 2023, adopted the minutes of the elections to the Council for Scientific Excellence for the 2024–2027 term.
There were representatives of the University of Gdańsk among the elected candidates:
- prof. dr hab. Mariola Bidzan in the field of social sciences (psychology);
- prof. dr hab. Igor Konieczny in the field of science and life sciences (biotechnology);
- prof. dr hab. Cezary Obracht-Prondzyński in the field of social sciences (sociological sciences).
- prof. dr hab. Małgorzata Omilanowska-Kiljańczyk in the humanities (arts sciences);
- prof. dr hab. Grzegorz Węgrzyn in sciences (biological sciences).
'We would like to congratulate all those elected, all the more so as post-doctoral fellows and professors from all over Poland took part in the vote. The UG has more than doubled its representation in this body, which shows that our scientists are renowned and trusted in the community,' said the Vice-Rector for Scientific Research, prof. dr hab. Wiesław Laskowski.
The main tasks of the Council for Scientific Excellence include conducting proceedings for the conferment of the title of professor and performing some of the activities in habilitation proceedings in cooperation with habilitation providers (including UG).
