This year's University Christmas Meeting, held on December 14 at the University of Gdańsk's Faculty of Social Sciences, was full of joy and festive atmosphere. The event started as early as 10 a.m. and lasted until 2 p.m., with numerous attractions for participants.
During the meeting, guests had the opportunity to enjoy borscht, hot chocolate, coffee or tea, and delicacies such as pastries and juicy mandarins. There was plenty of opportunity to chat, exchange wishes and spend time together in a truly festive atmosphere.
In addition to the taste sensations, touching moments - but also raising a sincere smile! -awaited the participants. The visit of the little guests was awe-inspiring: children from University Kindergarten, Kindergarten Puchatek and Primary School No. 33 delighted the audience with Christmas songs and carols. The little performers received thunderous applause from students, lecturers, and parents who came in large numbers to support their children.
During the ceremony, the results of the 'Unique Christmas Card' and 'Hanging Christmas Ornament' competitions were announced, in which children from the above-mentioned institutions and the Joyful Academy kindergarten in Miszewo took part. Three winners were selected from each of these institutions, and the remaining participants were honoured with diplomas and sweets presented by the Vice-Rector for Student Affairs and Education Quality, dr hab. Arnold Kłonczyński, prof. UG. The works made for the competition decorated the Christmas tree at the Faculty of Social Sciences, while the cards will go to the needy at the Polanki Nursing Home. It is worth mentioning on this occasion that the University Christmas Meeting had a charitable dimension. In addition to cards from children, one could admire cards prepared by the participants of a workshop organised by Kacper Wiśniewski and Katarzyna Kryńska from CASiD at the Index club café. Thanks to these initiatives, the wards of DPS Polanki will soon receive dedicated cards and hand-decorated gingerbread men, which will undoubtedly bring them joy.
Another important touch with a charitable dimension was the fair, which lasted throughout the event and sold handicrafts, books, toys and other items. The proceeds were used to support those in need.
As the Vice-Rector for Student Affairs and Education Quality, Prof. UG Arnold Kłonczyński, said in his speech, such events have a magical character, are full of warmth and emphasise the unity of the UG academic community. It is undoubtedly an uplifting project and one worth continuing.
Many thanks are also due to the representatives of the Academic Cultural Centre, who graced the University Christmas Meeting with their beautiful music. Their participation made the celebration even more special, leaving participants with extraordinary memories.
The good humour was immortalised in photos from the photo booth, which accompanies us at numerous events organised by the Student Parliament and CASiD.
