To celebrate the 15th edition of the Verba Veritatis competition, the Union of Financial Companies in Poland and the Kozminski University honoured universities with the largest number of submissions in the competition history. The University of Gdańsk received the Verba Veritatis award for raising the level of knowledge and competences in business ethics, social responsibility (CSR) and corporate governance, thus contributing to promoting ethical attitudes among students and implementing the principles of sustainable development in business and society.

The aim of the competition is to raise awareness and promote business ethics, corporate social responsibility and corporate governance among young people entering the labour market, and to foster ethical attitudes in business and everyday life.

This year, as many as 43 bachelor's, master's, doctoral and postdoctoral theses were submitted to the VERBA VERITATIS competition for the best thesis in business ethics. It is the highest number of submissions in the history of the competition, and the list of winners was announced on 10 December  2020, during the 16th Consumer Finance Congress.

In total, in the history of the competition, i.e. since 2006, 378 research papers on ethics, corporate social responsibility and corporate governance have been submitted, including 14 papers from the University of Gdańsk.

The record number of competition submissions shows the growing interest in business ethics, not only among business practitioners and researchers but also young people starting their professional careers. The participants of this year's jubilee edition addressed such issues as values and ethics in companies and on the labour market, innovations in social enterprises and the impact of climate change on financial markets and the functioning of enterprises.

The Competition Jury selected top 10 theses, awarding six prizes and four honourable mentions. The assessment criteria included the substantive value of the work, practical significance, innovation and research design.
