University of Gdańsk Trefl Sopot - this will be the name of the team Trefl II Sopot. The authorities of the UG, Trefl Sopot S.A., and Trefl Foundation signed a letter of intent on Monday 26.02.2024. The project supports the promotion of basketball in the region of the Pomeranian Voivodeship and all of Poland.

The signatories of the letter express their will to work together to establish training cooperation to create the University of Gdańsk Trefl Sopot team, which will compete in senior national competitions. Its players will represent the University of Gdańsk in the Polish Academic Championships. The project will have a significant impact on the popularisation of basketball primarily in the Pomorskie Voivodeship, but also throughout Poland.

The Trefl II Sopot team, currently playing in the 2nd basketball league, will change its name to the University of Gdańsk Trefl Sopot. The team's players will participate in academic competitions and will form an integral part of the UG basketball team. The purpose of the signed letter of intent is also to promote the University during sporting events.

The official inauguration of the cooperation will take place on 23 March, during a match to which we kindly invite you.
