The Speaker of the Sejm appointed the Labour Protection Council for the 12th term of office. Among the appointed members is dr Marta Zbucka-Gargas from the Department of Labour Law at the Faculty of Law and Administration of the UG, whose candidacy was proposed by the Prime Minister.
The Labour Protection Council (Polish: ROP) is the supervisory body in matters concerning the observance of labour law, including health and safety at work, the legality of employment and the activities of the State Labour Inspectorate. It comprises 30 members appointed by the Speaker of the Sejm for a four-year term.
According to the Act on the State Labour Inspectorate, the Speaker of the Sejm appoints members of the ROP from among MPs, senators and candidates proposed by the Prime Minister and by trade union and employer organisations representative within the meaning of the Act on the Council for Social Dialogue and Other Institutions for Social Dialogue, as well as by other social organisations dealing with labour protection issues. Experts and representatives of science are also appointed to the Council.
The presentation of the acts of appointment to the members of the Labour Protection Council by the Speaker of the Sejm, Szymon Hołownia, took place on 27 March 2024. Among the appointed members was dr Marta Zbucka-Gargas from the Department of Labour Law at the Faculty of Law and Administration, whose candidacy was proposed by the Prime Minister.
