Ministerial scholarships for outstanding young scientists from the University of Gdańsk

The Ministry of Science and Higher Education awarded scholarships for outstanding young scientists for the 19th time. The results were announced on Friday, June 21. Eight scientists from the University of Gdańsk were among those awarded.

Applications for granting scholarships for outstanding young scientists demonstrating significant achievements in scientific activity may be submitted by rectors of universities, directors of PAS institutes, research institutes and international institutes or other persons managing entities referred to in Article 7(1) of the Act on Higher Education and Science. During the last (nineteenth) edition, 1708 applications were presented to the Minister of Science.

Scholarship applications were evaluated by the Advisory Panel using the scoring method, within individual disciplines of science and arts. Ranking lists of applications together with recommendations were presented to the Minister of Science, Dariusz Wieczorek, who, on their basis, awarded scholarships to 228 young scientists, including 32 PhD students. The Minister's scholarships were awarded to young scientists representing 53 scientific and artistic disciplines, including eight male and female researchers from the UG.

The Minister's scholarships were awarded for three years; their monthly amount is PLN 5,390.
