Initial recruitment summary at the University of Gdańsk

Almost 30,000 candidates have applied for admission to study at the University of Gdańsk. Recruitment for some first-cycle programmes is still ongoing, as is recruitment for second-cycle full-time and part-time programmes.

According to the recruitment data, as of today, in terms of the number of persons per place, the most popular among candidates for first-cycle studies and unified Master's studies are: Criminology (13.15 persons per place), Journalism and Social Communication (12.40), and last year's novelty - Japanese Studies (10.83). A new course on offer this year was in the middle of the table: Historical Games Design (4.96 persons per place).

On the other hand, we recorded the highest number of total applications, traditionally for the courses Psychology (1821 applications), Law (1451), and Economics (1154).

It should be emphasised, however, that due to the still ongoing recruitment process, we will have to wait a bit longer for a final summary,’ says Recruitment Office Manager Beata Królczyk. ‘For example - enrolment in the Diplomacy and National Security faculties continues until 22 July.’

The University of Gdańsk's offer for the 2024/2025 academic year includes 96 full-time and part-time first- and second-cycle degree courses as well as uniform master's degree courses. The University of Gdańsk has a chance to obtain an index for 9,000 people on full-time studies and 2.6 people on part-time studies.

Until yesterday, 27,566 people had applied for an index at the UG, including:

  • full-time first degree and unified Master’s degree: 23,788
  • full-time second-cycle studies: 1.250
  • part-time first-cycle and unified Master’s degree studies: 2,183
  • part-time second-cycle studies: 345

The largest number of candidates for full-time first-cycle studies at UG reside in the Pomorskie Voivodeship: 12444, followed by Warmińsko-Mazurskie (2468), Kujawsko-Pomorskie (1784) and Mazowieckie (1794).

Nearly 700 foreigners, mostly from Ukraine, also applied.

Where lists have been announced, candidates submit their documents to the commissions, thus confirming their choice of course. The final list of those accepted e.g. for National Security will be announced on 30 July.

Recruitment for part-time second-cycle studies takes place until the end of September, but there are different application deadlines for individual majors.

Recruitment deadlines can be found at: http://ug.edu.pl/rekrutacja.

Information on additional recruitment will also be published on an ongoing basis in the tab with deadlines.
