Prof. dr hab. Jerzy Zajadła's book from the Faculty of Law and Administration at the University of Gdańsk was among five books selected by the jury of the Tadeusz Kotarbiński Award competition for the best humanities book of 2020, organised by the University of Łódź. The winner will be announced during the online gala broadcast of the competition on February 7.
The prize awarded by the University of Łódź is a nationwide distinction that has already earned a reputation among Polish scientists, who submit more and more works every year. In the past six editions, 360 works have been submitted from leading scientific institutions in Poland.
A total of 68 works were submitted for this year's competition. Among the five works nominated to the final was a book entitled "Minima luridica. Refleksje o pewnych (nie)oczywistościach prawniczych" by prof. dr hab. Jerzy Zajadła from the Faculty of Law and Administration UG, published by UG Publishing House.
The competition presents to a wider audience the value and diversity of Polish humanities works. The works that are nominated for the finals present a wide range of topics, but their connecting element is Man - with our problems, important questions and challenges posed by the contemporary world. - I think the idea of such an award to function at the University of Łódź is excellent. Not only because it ennobles the humanities, but most of all, it shows their importance, which supports humanists when it comes to visibility in the public sphere, said the winner of the 5th edition of the competition, prof. Grzegorz Ziółkowski.
The Jury of the Prof. T. Kotarbiński Competition selected works by five authors:
Mariusz Mazur's Antykomunistycznego podziemia portret zbiorowy 1945-1956. Aspekty mentalno-psychologiczne (BELLONA Publishing House), submitted by the History Institute of the Faculty of Humanities at Maria Curie-Skłodowska University.
Piotr Rachwała's Ruch naturalny ludności rzymskokatolickiej w Lubelskiem w świetle rejestracji metrykalnej z lat 1582 – 1900 (Published by the Catholic University of Lublin), submitted by the Institute of History at the Faculty of Humanities of the John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin.
Dariusz Śnieżka's Kompleksja literatury. Studia staropolskie (TAiWPN UNIVERSITAS), submitted by the Institute of Literature and New Media at the Faculty of Humanities of the University of Szczecin.
Karolina Wigura's Wynalazek nowoczesnego serca. Filozoficzne źródła współczesnego myślenia o emocjach (Scientific Publishers SCHOLAR), submitted by the Institute of Sociology, Faculty of Philosophy and Sociology, University of Warsaw.
Jerzy Zajadła's Minima luridica. Refleksje o pewnych (nie)oczywistościach prawniczych (University of Gdańsk Publishing House and Arche Publishing House), submitted by the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Gdańsk.
The winner, who will be announced on February 7, will receive PLN 50 000 for further scientific development, presented by prof. Elżbieta Żądzińska, Rector of the University of Łódź. This time, the gala will be held exceptionally online. It will be possible to participate in the ceremony thanks to several UniLodz media. The gala will take place in the L.
