Dr hab. Monika Bąk, prof. of the University of Gdańsk, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Head of the Department of Transport Economics was appointed by the Mayor of the City of Gdańsk to the group of experts for the Mobility and Transport Council as a representative of the University of Gdańsk.
The Council will be an advisory and consultative body to the Mayor of Gdańsk. The purpose of the work of the Mobility and Transport Council is to recommend to the Mayor of the City of Gdańsk solutions aimed in particular at:
- developing public transport as an element of a sustainable transport system satisfying the mobility needs of inhabitants;
- reducing the demand for transport through appropriate spatial planning;
- changing the distribution of transport tasks in favour of public transport and walking and cycling;
- providing precisely targeted information to inhabitants;
- using state-of-the-art technologies to increase transport efficiency.
The invitation to work in the team was also accepted by representatives of other institutions, companies and associations active in Gdańsk.
Dr Piotr Kuropatwiński, a former employee of the Faculty of Economics, was also invited to participate in the Council as a representative of the European Cyclists' Council.
