A meeting of scientists and PhD students from the world of quantum technology and an opportunity to discuss its latest developments and the challenges it faces - the next edition of the QuantumSpeedUp workshop will take place at the University of Gdańsk on 29-31 January 2025. The aim of the workshop is to develop the field, collaborate and exchange ideas between members of this fast-growing community in Poland.
The first workshop in the series was held in 2019, shortly after the establishment of two International Research Agencies focused on quantum technologies: the International Centre For Theory Of Quantum Technologies (ICTQT) at the University of Gdańsk and the Centre for Optical Quantum Technologies (QOT) at the University of Warsaw. Since then, Gdańsk has been the venue for this event, which has been gaining in popularity among academics every year.
This year's edition will open with a presentation of the Research Agenda of the International Centre For Theory Of Quantum Technologies (ICTQT) at the University of Gdańsk, with particular emphasis on the objectives and progress of the MAB FENG project. In addition, the workshop programme includes speed talk presentations and poster sessions.
The upcoming QuantumSpeedUp event is part of the promotion of the research conducted by ICTQT UG in the project entitled ‘International Centre for Theory Of Quantum Technologies 2.0: B and R Industrial and Experimental Phase’ (contract number FENG.02.01-IP.05.0006/23), which aims to develop breakthrough methods for quantum technologies and their applications. The research conducted will focus on the development of quantum devices such as quantum random number generators, quantum communication links or improved sensors and metrology tools, as well as quantum software. The work is led by prof. Marek Żukowski, a prominent Polish professor of theoretical physics who specialises in fundamental aspects of quantum mechanics and quantum information.
The project is part of the MAB FENG activity of the Foundation for Polish Science, co-financed by the European Union from the European Funds for a Modern Economy 2021-2027 (FENG), Priority 2: Innovation-friendly environment, Measure FENG.02.01.
More details about the event can be found at: https://ictqt.ug.edu.pl/quantum-speedup-workshop-2/.
The QuantumSpeedUp event will be open to students upon receipt of a free student ticket (available on-site at the reception stand). However, the organising committee would like to point out that such a ticket does not include coffee breaks or refreshments.
