PTE awarded diploma theses of UG graduates

On Wednesday, February 10, 2021, in the headquarters of the Polish Economic Society in Gdańsk, the results of the 17th edition of the Witold Andruszkiewicz Competition for Bachelor's Theses and the 24th edition of the Lucjan Hofman Competition for Master's Theses for the year 2020 were announced. Distinctions in the competitions went to graduates of the Faculty of Economics at the University of Gdańsk.

The idea behind the above mentioned annual competitions of the Polish Economic Society is to promote graduates of Pomeranian universities by creating opportunities for cooperation with companies in the region and to support research on contemporary economic problems, with particular emphasis on the development of the Gdańsk region.

The Competition Jury, composed of professors from Tricity universities, has selected works that can be described as innovative, unconventional and breaking the current schemes.

In this year's competition, distinctions went to three graduates of the University of Gdańsk, Faculty of Economics.

In the case of the 17th edition of the Witold Andruszkiewicz Bachelor Thesis Competition, distinctions were awarded to the following persons:

  • Mr Mikołaj Drożdżyński

Thesis on 'Rynek funduszy inwestycyjnych w Wielkiej Brytanii i Irlandii. Regulacje prawne, uwarunkowania rozwoju oraz analiza podmiotów' (TN: The market for investment funds in Great Britain and Ireland. Legal regulations, development conditions and entities analysis.).

Thesis written under the supervision of dr Sławomir Antkiewicz, University of Gdańsk, Faculty of Economics, Department of International Business, Department of International Financial Markets

  • Ms Aleksandra Rojek

Thesis on 'Społeczna odpowiedzialność biznesu jako sposób budowania przewagi konkurencyjnej przedsiębiorstw na przykładzie Farm Frites Poland S.A.' (TN: Corporate Social Responsibility as a way to build the competitive advantage of enterprises on the example of Farm Frites Poland S.A.).

Paper written under the supervision of dr hab. Beata Majecka, prof. UG, University of Gdańsk, Faculty of Economics, Department of Economics and Operations of Transport Enterprises

In the case of the 24th edition of the Lucjan Hofman Master Thesis Competition, distinctions were awarded to:

  • Ms Renata Stojanowska

Thesis on 'Gry symulacyjne jako nowoczesna metoda rozwoju kompetencji z zakresu ekonomii.' (TN: Simulation games as a modern method of developing competencies in economics.).

Thesis written under the supervision of dr hab. Tomasz Brodzicki, prof. UG, University of Gdańsk, Faculty of Economics, Department of International Economics and Economic Development

The date and form of the award ceremony will depend on the sanitary restrictions in force during the following weeks.

The Competition Jury also appreciated diploma theses written at a very high level, which gained recognition of its members, but due to the limited number of awards and distinctions granted were not honoured. Among them are four master's theses by graduates of the Faculty of Economics of the University of Gdańsk and two bachelor's theses written also at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Gdańsk. They are to be published on the PTE website in the Knowledge Zone tab.
