Psychological and philosophical perspectives on human phenomena through the eyes of ANIMA Scientific Circle

What is spirituality through the eyes of a young researcher? What does it give us? Why do we engage in spiritual activities? We invite you to read the book 'Okiem młodych badaczy. O duchowości i religijności inaczej' (TN: 'Through the Eyes of Young Researchers. On spirituality and religiousness in a different way'), which qualified for the top of the STRUNA 2020 competition.

The book 'Okiem młodych badaczy. O duchowości i religijności inaczej' edited by dr hab. Katarzyna Skrzypińska, prof. UG is a series of 10 essays on psychological and/or philosophical perspectives describing phenomena related to man, from the micro to the macro scale, which includes: man's consciousness, his identity, relation with the body, sexuality and relation to sex, loneliness and being lost, existential crisis, spiritual intelligence as a tool helping to overcome it, searching for a new religion and artificial intelligence, and new gods of our times, in the era of the Internet rush. The publication has an interdisciplinary character, which allowed students, PhD students and graduates of psychology at UG to look at human nature from a broader perspective. The project in the form of a publication also qualified for the top of the STRUNA 2020 competition.

The paper is the result of several years of meetings and numerous discussions within the ANIMA Scientific Circle, Section of Psychology of Religion and Spirituality at the University of Gdańsk, supervised by dr hab. Katarzyna Skrzypińska, prof. UG.

- 'In 2013, in October, after a lecture on the History of Psychological Thought, a group of fascinated students of human nature approached me and asked if we could in some way develop the themes discussed in class. Among them was Weronika Labandt, then still a student. A lively discussion ensued, and a piece of paper with several names on it landed on my desk. I was delighted with this enthusiasm, but I thought that it would probably cool down quickly due to excessive academic duties,' says dr hab. Katarzyna Skrzypińska, prof. UG, the club's supervisor.

Among the members of KN ANIMA, there are students of psychology, philosophy, fine arts, PhD students of psychology and graduates of the University of Gdańsk and the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk, whose interests oscillate around the surrounding reality in all its shades. They are interested in processes that take place in every unique person and interpersonal relations. They break stereotypes and reach for knowledge outside the academy. They cooperate in an interdisciplinary manner, referring also to such fields as e.g. art, aesthetics, ethics.
